Dear local artists, The Haddonfield Educational Trust is creating a public art exhibit for the Borough of Haddonfield and we need you! New York and Chicago had cows, The Catskills had Cats and we are going to have the Bulldawgs. Our event is called "Dawg Daze". In the coming months we will be unleashing the most creative and beautiful Bulldawgs all over our community. The purpose of this public art event, is first and foremost to show case the creative talent of our local artists. It will create an exciting vehicle for tourism and raise money to benefit the students of Haddonfield Public Schools. These life sized (17"H x 27"L x 13"W) Bulldawgs are fiberglass statues whose body will serve as a canvas for the artist to produce a 3-dimensional work of art. Each Bulldawg will be a unique creation showcasing the talents of our local artist. We would like you to submit a design for a Bulldawg using the forms found on your left. Please ensure that you submit both forms. All proposed designs will be submitted to a Review Committee for approval and inclusion in the Event Portfolio. Please feel free to submit more than one design. All designs are subject to the Review Committee's discretion and the Committee reserves the right to reject artist's submissions. Design criteria call for creativity and artistry. This art exhibit does not allow any direct label advertising or a product or company name, libel, slander, or social disrespect. Remember that this is a public display and all proposals must be appropriate for all audiences. If your idea has the Bulldawg form being altered (such as a hat as part of a theme) then the sponsor would have to agree to the additional cost. We are securing sponsors and purchasing the Bulldawgs from a company in Chicago, CowPainters. Please visit their website www.cowpainters.com to see art from other public art projects in communities all over the United States. They suggest artists use acrylic paint. Be creative! If you have questions about using mixed media, please give us a call. When art is completed, it will be clear coated at a body shop to ensure longevity. If your design is chosen, you will receive two Bulldawgs. You will be given $250 to cover your art supplies to paint the Bulldawgs. One Bulldawg will become permanent public art, and the other Dawg will be sold at our Dawg Daze auction. A plaque will be placed on each Bulldawg, listing the Dawg's name, sponsor and artist. We plan to print brochures with a map and create a link on our website which will also list that information. We will notify artists as to their acceptance by the review Committee.
